Basic IV Theory and Practice Course

Notes: Our Basic IV Practice Class is designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience and confidence in IV catheter insertion. Tailored primarily for Paramedic and Nursing students, the class is also open to licensed professionals looking to refresh their skills or learn new techniques from experienced instructors. Participants will receive instruction on IV placement, safety protocols, and best practices, followed by supervised practice on manikins. Once proper technique is demonstrated, students will have the opportunity to perform IV insertions on classmates under instructor supervision. This course is ideal for those preparing for clinicals or simply wanting to improve their proficiency. While this course does not provide IV certification, a certificate of completion will be issued. Student success rate is 100%!

 

Course Discription:

This course is designed for both nursing and paramedic students who are entry level providers of intravenous therapies. Additionally it is also beneficial to those providers transitioning into practice needing IV insertion review.
Upon completion of this course Students will know:

  • What the indications and uses for Intravenous therapy are
  • What are contraindications of IV therapy as well as possible side effects
  • What equipment are needed for IV therapy as well as proper assembly
  • Psychomotor skills and practice in order to be successful in your IV insertion attempts

Course Run Time: 3 hours depending on number of participants and desire to practice

 

*Upon course completion, those in attendance will receive a certificate of course completion.  A course completion certificate does not authorize nor certify one to be able to perform IV insertion or therapy.  Individuals must operate within the scope of practice under there current license.  This calss is not provided in association with the California BRN or California EMSA.
